Environmental Policy

Here at Eye Kettleby Lakes we are constantly reviewing our working environment to see if we can lower our carbon footprint.

As guests and visitors could you please spare a few minutes to read this policy and help us along!!

Wind Turbine

Our wind turbine sits in the top field adjourning the touring park. The electricity generated is piped down to the caravan park and then used by our guests. Below is a selection of photos of the development back in 2013.

The wind turbine now generates up to 145,000 KW per year.

Solar Farms

Our farm building has been lined with 300 solar panels. The generated electricity is then used to heat up a huge tank, which supplies hot water to the hot tubs and supply for the lights at the clubhouse

The solar panels now generate up to 90,000 KW per year.

Planting Schemes & Wildlife

We spend hours and hours every week preserving the beautiful countryside that surrounds our complex. Since day one we have planted over 40 thousand trees, established 8 lakes, home to many families of geese & ducks. We have surrounded each of the lodges with plantations of shrubs and trees to encourage and support all wildlife from butterflies to pheasants! In the main woods we have built bird and owl boxes, the wildlife gives the whole site a lot of character, so we try to encourage this as much as possible Below pictures show our bird and owl boxes, which have becomes home to some beautiful barn owls (spotted by Leicestershire owl trust Summer 2015).

Our ground staff who top up bird feeders daily looking after the population of birds. Recently spotted; Kingfishers, Bullfinches, Chaffinches, a Long Eared Owl, Tawny Owls, Yellow Wagtails, English Partridge and many more.

Touring Park Development 2012

During development of our touring park, we were keen to ensure that the project would hold a greener future. Here is some of the energy saving installations we introduced. We used solar tubes on all of the changing areas and velux windows to gain as much natural light as possible. Water saving systems were used throughout the park; solenoid valves fitted on individual units to stop water and electric supply when units were out of use. We added sensors to the urinals and taps to manage water usage. Air source heating provides 100% of the energy required for the under floor heating throughout the year.

Our Recycling

At present we recycle 100% of all glass, paper, cardboard and plastic Guests are encouraged to help with our recycling efforts. Separate bins and clear signage is provided.

We also recycle 100% of all used ink cartridges, which are donated to chosen charities.

Without the help of our guests our contribution would be very difficult. We thank everyone for all the little help and hope you can continue to help us in the future.
